Jacinda Whitley-White is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Louisiana and North Carolina, Assistant Professor at Pfeiffer University and children's author. Among her areas of expertise are person-center therapy, with a strengths-based approach, to address anxiety associated with changes in the life cycles, self-exploration and spirituality. Dr. Whitley has experience working with emerging adults, families, the geriatric population and novice therapists.
Dr. Whitley has strong roots in Lake Charles, LA, where she lived until the age of 8. Dr. Whitley, then moved to Missouri City, TX, where she grew up with her two older brothers, mother and step-father. Dr. Whitley believes in the importance of family support and healthy boundaries, as she attributes many of her family experiences to her pursuit into the helping profession. She enjoys spending time in beautiful places, comedy, good food, and high heels!
Dr. Whitley has a B.S. in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana, M.MFT in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Throughout her journey she has ran into obstacles of her own, with imposter syndrome, depression and limitations in embracing her authentic self, turning to who she could for support along the way. Dr. Whitley aims to pay it forward by supporting others that may face similar struggles. She believes everyone has a purpose and a role in society, and stands on the idea that "everything we could ever want is just on the other side of our fears."
